With one in eight Americans relying on SNAP, Assistant Professor Jason Cook of the Eccles School’s Marriner S. Eccles Institute for Economics and Quantitative Analysis explained to Fox 13 News that halting the program reduces grocery sales and limits discretionary spending nationwide.

When the U.S. government increased deportations of undocumented immigrants through a program called “Secure Communities” between 2008 and 2013, Troup Howard and his co-authors demonstrate that deporting immigrant workers reduced construction, cut jobs, and increased housing prices, worsening the housing crisis.

David Evans, Director of the Global Education and Child Well-Being Program at the Center for Global Development, visited the Marriner S. Eccles Institute for Economics and Quantitative Analysis to deliver a lecture titled “How to Get a Motivated, Qualified Teacher in Front of Every Child Around the World.”

Research co-authored by Jason Cook, an Assistant Professor in the Eccles School’s Division of Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations as well as the Marriner S. Eccles Institute, was featured on an episode of the (HBO) Max news, politics, and current events show “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
